Just submitted an article I wrote on Aging in Place Gardening for the HPSO’s spring newsletter. There are many points to be made on the subject, of course, but one of the quotes that resonated with me was ”Art requires less work than plants, so if a plant isn’t performing as it should...” Well, you get the idea. Here is an example of what that might look like, that I just love. Today was just a beautiful day, and we passed under this beauty on our walk around the neighborhood. I’m sure all those fallen fruits are a pain in the butt to deal with, but so are both the leaves and the cones from my big magnolia. Even so, I would rather be surrounded by trees than not. Plant more trees! Now is a great time to do it!We have the best neighbors. Mike is a baking god. He just brought over this freshly baked loaf of bread. Note the leaf pattern. After three years of relative misery in progressively larger pots, it’s finally tall enough to have its head above the fray in the spot where I want it, so it finally got its feet in the ground. By the time I finished, it was dark, so no photo yet. It’s pretty much a stick this time of year anyway.
