Look at that blue sky! Here seen through the tracery of a #liquidambar or #sweetgum - the kind of tree that I appreciate more in other people’s gardens. Today was just a beautiful day, and we passed under this beauty on our walk around the neighborhood. I’m sure all those fallen fruits are a pain in the butt to deal with, but so are both the leaves and the cones from my big magnolia. Even so, I would rather be surrounded by trees than not. Plant more trees! Now is a great time to do it!We have the best neighbors. Mike is a baking god. He just brought over this freshly baked loaf of bread. Note the leaf pattern. After three years of relative misery in progressively larger pots, it’s finally tall enough to have its head above the fray in the spot where I want it, so it finally got its feet in the ground. By the time I finished, it was dark, so no photo yet. It’s pretty much a stick this time of year anyway.
